10 products included in new LuSC list
Schäfer Additivsysteme GmbH is pleased to announce that ten additives of the product portfolio have successfully been added to the new LuSC list.
The Lubricant Substance Classification List (short: LuSC List) is a list of substances and products that meet the relevant criteria of the EU Eco-label for lubricants. These criteria were revised by the EU Commission Decision 2018/1702/EU of November 8th, 2018. Using additives of ours that are included in the LuSC list makes it much easier and faster for you, as our customer, to apply for the EU Ecolabel for your end product.
Our aim is to continue expanding our product selection in the LuSC list in the future in the interests of our customers. At the request of our customers, we are also prepared to have products included in the LuSC list - if this is possible. We are happy to support you!
You can find more information on this topic in our new Ecolabel flyer.

New anti-aging system in the LUBIO® AS series
- Multifunctional additive system for the stabilisation of ester containing polymers
- Outstanding hydrolysis stabilisation
- Protection against thermic and light induced aging
- Toxicologically and ecotoxicologically harmless
Due to its highly effective functional groups, LUBIO® AS 18 prevents the break down of polymers. It is capable of rapidly binding with free acids and radicals which initiate polymer breakdown and are frequent cause of functional loss in man-made material. Additionally, LUBIO® AS 18’s cross-linking properties ensure the relinkage of already broken polymer strands and thereby care for the overall preservation of the mechanical properties of products.
With the introduction of LUBIO® AS 18 to the market, Schäfer Additivsysteme GmbH brings a new product that ensures an optimal long-term stabilisation of conventional ester-based plastics as well as modern bioplastics. Apart from providing excellent hydrolytic resistance, LUBIO® AS 18 also gives materials out of PLA, PET, PBT, and many more, additional protection towards thermic, oxidative, and photolytic decomposition.
LUBIO® AS 18 can be used in numerous polymer types. The low emission potential and ecotoxicological safety of this product demonstrate several of the many advantages of LUBIO® AS 18 relative to the classical hydrolysis protection additives used in polyesters.
Schäfer Additivsysteme GmbH’s exhibition booth is well received at the UNITI
The international congress UNITI Mineral Oil Technology Congress (UMTF) is a meeting where specialists from the lube and fuel sectors along with experts from the mechanical engineering and automobile industry get together to exchange knowledge, make new connections, and discuss current trends, demands, and future potential developments in the lubricants industry.
This was the first year that Schäfer Additivsysteme had a representative booth at the UMTF. This optical highlight amongst the exhibition stands was well received by participants, which led to numerous open conversations and interesting discussions. The forum was successfully concluded with a presentation given by Dr. Schäfer. Through his relaxed and convincing manner, along with his chemical expertise, Dr. Schäfer managed to capture and hold the audience’s attention, while giving them a compact overview of parts of the current research being done, as well as new developments in the lubricant sector at SAS.
Schäfer Additivsysteme creates a new, environmentally friendly, non-classified hydrolysis protection additive, which does not require labelling
- great anti-hydrolysis agent
- provides great stabilization from biopolymers and bio based raw resources
- toxicologically and ecotoxicologically harmless
- not classified and does not require labelling according to the GHS/CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008
The family company Schäfer Additivsysteme GmbH is expanding its range of hydrolysis stabilizer products for plastics, polyurethanes, and lubricants. Depending on where they are needed, suitable solutions can be found with the various types of LUBIO® AS. The products for the most part, focus on biobased polycarbodiimides, which are produced with alternative raw resources and the company’s own catalyst technology.
LUBIO® AS 3, LUBIO® AS 4, and LUBIO®AS 11 demonstrate outstanding stabilization properties in thermoplastics such as PET for example, and also in thermoplastic elastomers (TPE-E).
LUBIO® AS 4 is especially designed for the stabilization of bioplastics (PLA) and thermoplastic urethanes (TPU).
